Bibliographic supplement to U.S. Geological Survey Bulletin 1426 for 1975 through June 1977

This bibliography is a supplement to U.S. Geological Survey Bulletins 1426 (Bergquist, 1976) and 1263 (Heath and Tabacchi, 1968). The titles listed result from work undertaken in cooperation with national agencies partly through technical assistance projects under the auspices of the Agency for International Development, U.S. Department of State; partly under reimbursable assistance projects with other governments on behalf of the Department of State; partly under assistance projects sponsored by international organizations; and partly under scientific exchange projects supported by U.S. agencies such as the National Science Foundation. This report includes titles published during the period 1975 through June 1977, but is not necessarily complete, as an exhaustive search was not made; however, it is being released in open file in order to make the data available to the public on an interim basis. Seven geographic regions and 57 countries are represented. A few titles published prior to 1975 are listed because they were not included in Bulletins 1263 or 1426. Only reports authored solely or in part by USGS members, or jointly by USGS and counterpart staff members, are listed.

Geologic investigations of radioactive deposits, semiannual progress report for June 1 to November 30, 1955

This report is a statement of progress during the six-months period from June 1 to November 30, 1955 on investigations of radioactive materials in the United States and Alaska, undertaken by the U.S. Geological Survey under the sponsorship of the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission. During the period the Geological Survey's program has been directed to an increasing extent toward the understanding of geologic conditions favorable for the concentration of uranium, rather than the search for minable deposits as such. This shift in emphasis is reflected in the decreased amount of exploration drilling during the period, and the accompanying increase in geologic programs of a long-range nature. The program is now directed toward a comprehensive understanding of the many factors involved in uranium geology, and the publication of reports that will make available information on all phases of the uranium program. Many investigations have progressed to the point where final reports are in preparation for future publication with the permission of the Atomic Energy Commission; for other investigations of a continuing nature it will be several years before final reports can be prepared. Formal publications (as distinguished from administrative Trace Elements Reports) published during the period include 10 Geological Survey Bulletins or Bulletin Chapters; 116 Geological Survey maps; 15 reports published in scientific journals; seven Trace Elements Reports sent to the Technical Information Service of the Atomic Energy Commission for distribution and sale to the public; and four Trace Elements reports placed on open file. In addition, a large number •of papers by geologists in the program were presented before scientific societies, and the 61 papers prepared for the United Nations International Conference .on the Peaceful Uses of Atomic Energy during the preceding report period were published by the United Nations.

Bibliographic supplement to USGS Bulletin 1426; 1975 to June 1979

This bibliography is a supplement to U.S. Geological Survey Bulletins 1426 (Bergquist, 1976) and 1263 (Heath and Tabacchi, 1968). The titles listed result from work undertaken in cooperation with national agencies partly through technical assistance projects under the auspices of the Agency for International Development, U.S. Department of State; partly under reimbursable assistance projects with other governments on behalf of the Department of State; partly under assistance projects sponsored by international organizations; and partly under scientific exchange projects supported by U.S. agencies such as the National Science Foundation. This report includes titles published during the period 1975 through June 1979, but is not necessarily complete, as an exhaustive search was not made; however, it is being released in open file in order to make the data available to the public on an interim basis. Seven geographic regions and 71 countries are represented. A few titles published prior to 1975 have been found that are not included in Bulletins 1263 or 1426. Only reports authored solely or in part by USGS members, or jointly by USGS and counterpart staff members, are listed. The reports are listed alphabetically by author, under the appropriate country; reports of wider scope are given under the continent or geographic region, for example, Africa, Central and South America, or CENTO region. Reports not classifiable by geographic location are listed separately under the heading "General." All references to reports on water resources and hydrology were provided by J. R. Jones or R. M. Beall, USGS. The reports and maps are available only through the listed source. Copies of articles published in scientific journals or by other governments or agencies cannot be ordered from the USGS. Instructions for ordering publications of the USGS follow.

Bulletin of the United States Geological and Geographical Survey of the Territories: No. 2, first Series

Now that two numbers of the Bulletin have been issued by the Survey, a word of explanation as to the object of its publication seems to be necessary. The vast amount of new material in all departments of natural history collected in the West under the auspices of the Survey, and in some instance demanding prompt publication, suggested the present form, in order that this new matter might not be too much scattered, either in the proceedings of societies, or in independent papers not easily accessible to the scientific student. The annual report will not appear until late in the summer, (July or August,) and, in consequence, the Bulletin will be issued from time to time as the necessity arises for the prompt publication of valuable matter.

Occurrences of copper minerals in Alaska

The following references give data, as of June 1, 1982, on localities where copper minerals have been found in Alaska. References are keyed by number to locations shown on the accompanying map. An asterisk (*) preceding a locality name indicates recorded production. In most instances the report(s) cited for each occurrence is a summary of data in older reports and was compiled since 1975. Most of the summary reports contain lists of the reports used in their compilation. Citations are in standard bibliographic format with the exception that each includes, in parentheses, an abbreviation for the report or map series and the number of the report or map. Abbreviations used are: AOF, State of Alaska Division of Geological and Geophysical Surveys Open-File Report; B, U.S. Geological Survey Bulletin; BMOF, U.S. Bureau of Mines Open-File Report; C, U.S. Geological Survey Circular; MF, U.S. Geological Survey Miscellaneous Field Studies Map; OF, U.S. Geological Survey Open-File Report; P, U.S. Geological Survey Professional Paper.
