Mercersburg-Chambersburg folio, Pennsylvania

The Mercersburg and Chambersburg Qquadrangles are located in the south-central part of Pennsylvania, between parallels 39° 45' and 40° and meridians 77° 30' and 78°, and contain about 458 square miles. This area embraces the larger part of Fanklin County and a small part of Fulton County. Its southern border is within 2 miles of the Maryland State boundary.

Johnstown folio, Pennsylvania

By reference to the key map (fig. 1) it will be seen that the Johnstown quadrangle is in southwest-central Pennsylvania. It lies mostly in Cambria County but covers also small parts of Somerset, Westrmoreland, and Indiana counties. Most of it is included in the valley of Conemaugh River and its tributaries Little Conemaugh River and Stony Creek, at the confluence of which is Johnstown and its suburbs. The northern part of the area is in the valleys of Blacklick Creek and it South Branch, along which are the small but prosperous coal-mining town Nanty Glo, Twin Rocks, Weber, Vintondale, and Wehrum.

Pawpaw-Hancock folio, Maryland-West Virginia-Pennsylvania

The Pawpaw and Hancock quadrangles embrace parts of eastern West Virginia, western Maryland, and southern Pennsylvania between parallels 39° 30' abd 39° 45' and meridians 78° and 78° 30', and contain 460 square miles. (See fig. 1.) Parts of eight counties are included in the area, Morgan, Berkeley, and Hampshire in West Virginia, Washington and Allegany in Maryland, and Bedford, Fulton, and Franklin in Pennsylvania. Hancock, Md., the the largest town in the area, Pawpaw, Great Cacapon, and Berkeley Springs, W. Va., being next in importance.

Choptank folio, Maryland

The Choptank quadrangle lies between parallel 38 ° 30' and 39° north latitude and meridians 76° and 76° 30' west longitude. It includes one-fourth of a square degree of the earth's surface and contains 931.51 square miles. From north to south it measures 34.5 miles and from east to west its mean width is 27 miles, as it is 27.1 miles wide along the southern and 26.9 miles along the northern border.
