Fifty-six rock, 46 stream-sediment, and 22 panned-concentrate samples were collected from the Welcome Creek Wilderness, Granite County, Montana, during the summers of 1979 and 1980. All samples were analyzed for 31 elements by a six-step semiquantitative emission spectrographic method (Grimes and Marranzino, 1968). All panned concentrate and other selected samples were analyzed for gold by an atomic absorption procedure (Thompson and others, 1968). All rock and stream-sediment samples were also analyzed for Ag, Bi, Cd, Cu, Pb, Sb, and Zn by a partial-digestion procedure (Viets and others, 1979). Sample analyses and locations are presented in this report.

Semiquantitative spectrographic analyses for 31 elements and atomic absorption analyses for gold and zinc on 43 stream sediments, 5 panned concentrates, 65 soils, and 81 rock samples from the Big Frog Wilderness Study Area and vicinity, Polk County, Tennessee, and Fannin County, Georgia, are reported here in detail. Locations for all 194 samples are given in Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) coordinates. Rocks analyzed include metasiltstone, metasandstone, metaconglomerate, slate, and vein quartz. The data contain no obviously anomalous values that might be related to economically recoverable mineralization.

Locations for all 453 samples are given in Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) coordinates. Rocks analyzed include metasandstone, metaarkose, metagraywacke, metaconglomerate, slate, phyllite, and vein quartz. The data contain no obviously anomalous values that might be related to economically recoverable mineralization.
