Water resources data, Arizona, water year 1985

Water resources data for the 1985 water year for Arizona consist of records of stage, discharge, and water quality of streams; stage, contents, and water quality of lakes and reservoirs; water levels of observation wells; and quality of ground water. This report contains discharge records for 186 gaging stations, annual peaks for 24 crest-stage partial-record stations, and discharge measurements at 7 miscellaneous sites; contents only records for 8 lakes and reservoirs; stage and contents for 1 lake; elevation only for 1 streamflow station; 18 supplementary records, included with gaging-station records, consisting of monthend or monthly stage, contents, and evaporation of lakes and reservoirs, diversions, and return flows; water-quality records for 34 continuous-record stations and 5 miscellaneous sites; water levels for 95 observation wells; and water-quality data for water from 230 wells. The data re-present that part of the National Water Data System operated by the U.S. Geological Survey and cooperating Federal and State Agencies in Arizona.

Water resources data for Arizona, water year 1984

Water resources data for the 1984 water year for Arizona consist of records of stage, discharge, and water quality of streams; stage, contents, and water quality of lakes and reservoirs; measurements of ground-water levels; and quality of water from selected wells. Also included are discharge data for crest-stage partial-record stations and water-quality data for partial-record stations. Locations of the gaging stations are shown in figures 4, 6, and 7, and of water-quality stations in figures 5 and 6. Additional water data were collected at various sites, which are not part of the systematic data-collection program, and are published as miscellaneous measurements or miscellaneous water-quality analyses. These data represent that part of the National Water Data System operated by the U.S. Geological Survey and cooperating State and Federal agencies in Arizona.

Water resources data, Arizona water year 1983

Water resources data for the 1983 water year for Arizona consist of records of stage, discharge, and water quality of streams; stage, contents, and water quality of lakes and reservoirs; measurements of ground-water levels; and quality of water from selected wells. Bibliography of water-resources reports for Arizona through 1982

This bibliography is a listing of reports concerning the water resources of Arizona obtained by computer search of three bibliographic files: Water Resources Scientific Information Center (WRSIC); National Technical Information Service (NTIS); and GEOREF, from the American Geological Institute. The three files gave listings of several hundred reports, not all of which have been retained in the present bibliography. For example, abstracts and masters' theses are not listed in the final version and some reports for which the subject matter was thought to be irrelevant to a scientific bibliography are not listed. Also included are all the references listed in the two previously published bibliographies of the Arizona District. Thus, it is a comprehensive listing of water-resources reports for the State of Arizona, and some of the reports cover parts of adjacent states. Discussions of related subjects, such as geology, are included in many of the reports. A subject index and an author index to the bibliography are included to facilitate its use.

Maps showing ground-water conditions in the northern part of the Gila River drainage from Painted Rock Dam to Texas Hill area, Maricopa, Pima, and Yuma Counties, Arizona; 1978

The Gila River drainage from Painted Rock Dam to Texas Hill area includes about 3,000 square miles in southwestern Arizona. Ground-water development has taken place only in the northern part of the area, and only this part is included in the report. The southwestward-flowing Gila River drains the 1 ,900-square-mile northern part of the area. The main water-bearing unit is the valley-fill deposits. Since 1967, the estimated ground-water pumpage has exceeded 100,000 acre-feet per year, and in 1977 the ground-water pumpage was 210,000 acre-feet; the ground water is used mainly for irrigation. The ground-water withdrawals have resulted in general water-level declines in most of the area. Information shown on the maps includes change in water level, 1965-78 and 1973-78, and irrigated area; depth to water, altitude of the water level, and well depth; and specific conductance and fluoride concentration in the water. Hydrographs of the water level in selected wells and a table of historical pumpage also are included. Scale 1:250 ,000.

Statistical summaries of Arizona streamflow data

The report includes statistical summaries of streamflow data for 143 gaging stations in Arizona. Statistical summaries are given for all active streamflow-gaging stations at which flow is unregulated, for discontinued stations that have at least 5 years of record, and for a few stations at which the flow is partly regulated. The summaries include (1) log-Pearson Type III flood-frequency data for selected streamflow-gaging stations, (2) annual peak discharges and gage heights and annual volumes, (3) duration tables of daily discharges, (4) lowest mean discharges, (5) highest mean discharges, (6) statistics on normal monthly mean discharges, and (7) statistics on normal annual mean discharges.

Maps showing ground-water conditions in the Willcox area, Cochise and Graham Counties, Arizona - 1975

The Willcox area includes about 1,500 square miles in southeastern Arizona. The main use of ground water is for irrigation. For 1954-75, the estimated ground-water pumpage exceeded 100,000 acre-feet per year, and for 1967-75, ground-water pumpage averaged about 300,000 acre-feet per year. Ground-water withdrawals have resulted in general water-level declines in most of the developed part of the area. Information shown on the maps includes change in water level (1963-75), irrigated area, depth to water, well depth, altitude of the water level, and distribution of dissolved solids and fluoride. Hydrographs of water levels in selected wells and a table of historical pumpage are included also. (Woodard-USGS)
