Effects of Urbanization on the Magnitude and Frequency of Floods on Small Streams in Tennessee - Basic Data Report No. 1

Peak stages and discharges recorded at 17 gaging stations on streams draining small (less than 20 sq mi) urbanized basins across Tennessee are presented. Sites gaged are in 17 different municipaities with population range between 5,000 and 100.000. The report gives a description of each gaged site along with a data sheet in which peak stages and discharges above a selected base are listed. The description gives the station location, type of gage, records available, basin parameters and general remarks. (USGS)

Field verification of method for distributing flow through multiple-bridge openings

Field data collected at three sites in Louisiana having multiple-bridge openings were used to check a method of distribution of flow through two or more bridges. Actual peak discharges in the various main and overflow bridges ranged from 878 to 11,055 cubic feet per second (24.9 to 313 m 2 /s). The error of the computed discharge to the actual discharge ranged between -20 and +6 percent, with the exception of one opening that had an error of +101 percent.
